ICCEHS Launches “Voices for Peace:
Together Toward Stability in the Region” Initiative
“Voices for Peace. Together for Stability”
Rome – Paris, 14 March 2026
After two weeks of escalating tensions in the Middle East, the crisis shows little sign of de-escalation. At this critical moment of uncertainty and rising concern across the region, The International Committee on Countering Extremist and Hate Speech (ICCEHS), in line with its mission to promote a culture of dialogue, responsible communication, and peaceful coexistence, announces the launch of its initiative “Voices for Peace: Together Toward Stability in the Region.”

This initiative seeks to mobilize responsible voices from governmental, political, intellectual, media, and civil society spheres to advocate for restraint, dialogue, and the restoration of stability. It aims to encourage constructive engagement and responsible discourse that prioritizes peace over confrontation and cooperation over division, while countering narratives that fuel escalation and polarization.
Through this initiative, ICCEHS seeks to deliver three key messages to regional and international stakeholders:
-
Urging international and regional leadership to take urgent and responsible action to de-escalate tensions and restore stability in the region.
-
Promoting a culture of dialogue, coexistence, and responsible communication as essential pillars for lasting peace.
-
Saluting the wise and responsible positions adopted by Gulf countries in avoiding escalation and supporting their efforts to preserve regional stability during this difficult period.
The initiative also aims to amplify calls for calm, promote diplomatic solutions, and reinforce the principles of mutual respect and coexistence among nations and societies. ICCEHS expresses strong appreciation for the constructive role played by Gulf countries, whose commitment to stability and moderation represents an essential pillar for safeguarding regional security and encouraging peaceful solutions to current challenges.
Dr. Nidal Shoukeir, Executive Board Director of The International Committee on Countering Extremist and Hate Speech (ICCEHS), stated: “At times of tension, the most courageous voices are those that call for wisdom, restraint, and dialogue. Through ‘Voices for Peace,’ we aim to mobilize leaders, thinkers, and institutions across the region to send a clear and unified message: the future of the region must be built on stability, cooperation, and peaceful engagement—not escalation.”
“We also recognize and support the responsible efforts undertaken by Gulf countries in promoting calm and safeguarding regional stability during this crisis. Their commitment to dialogue and constructive diplomacy reflects the leadership needed today to guide the region away from confrontation and toward a horizon of peace, security, and shared prosperity.”
Hon. Gennaro Migliore, Advisory Board Director of The International Committee on Countering Extremist and Hate Speech (ICCEHS) highlighted the importance of collective responsibility in addressing regional tensions: “The challenges facing the region today require a renewed commitment to dialogue and cooperation among nations and societies. A new multilateralism based on respect for international law. Initiatives like ‘Voices for Peace’ remind us that stability is not achieved through confrontation, but through responsible leadership and the collective will to choose peace.”
“Supporting initiatives that call for de-escalation and mutual understanding is essential at this critical moment. The constructive engagement of regional actors, particularly the Gulf countries that continue to advocate for stability and moderation, demonstrates that diplomacy and cooperation remain the strongest path toward lasting peace.”
Through the “Voices for Peace” initiative, ICCEHS calls upon governments, policymakers, intellectuals, journalists, civil society leaders, academic institutions, and responsible voices across the region and the international community to join this collective effort. At a time when tensions risk deepening divisions, raising voices for dialogue, moderation, and coexistence is not only necessary — it is a shared responsibility. Together, by choosing words that build bridges rather than walls, the international community can help restore stability and open the way toward a more peaceful and cooperative future for the region.
